Duffle Bag Program

Oklahoma currently has over 9,000 kids in state custody. These kids come into the system with the clothes on their back, and those often need to be thrown away. These kids literally have nothing, arrive scared, alone and unsure of what their future holds. We would like to begin providing bags packed with necessity and comfort items for these kids upon their arrival in emergency shelters. These bags will be full of new items that the kids will be able to keep with them through the entirety of their journey through the shelter and foster care systems. Due to the Pinnacle Plan, most of the kids coming into the shelter are ages 8 to 17, so we would like to focus on this age group. These items can be for any age (8-17) and gender. We will make the bags based on the needs of the children as they arrive.

What we need:

  • Duffle bags
  • Blankets
  • Socks and underwear
  • Pajamas
  • Personal hygiene products (toothpaste, toothbrushes, stick deodorant, etc.)
  • Hair care/hair products/hair accessories (Also need African American products)

*We ask that you please not purchase any of the following: aerosols of any kind, razors, mouthwash, perfume or cologne.

We will be collecting items now through May 19th. If we have a good response, we will restart the program in the Fall. Please drop all items at the drop locations listed below. If you need a receipt for tax purposes, or have any questions, please email us at fosteringfoundations@gmail.com.
